Little X’s Beanie Hat. Free Crochet Pattern.

Crochet The Little X’s Beanie Babe Hat. Free Pattern.

An easy 19 row baby beanie hat pattern with a little bit of decoration

To fit: newborn,

Measurements approx: Head Circumference 13 inches, hat height 5 inches

Please note, by using a smaller or larger hook, you can make a smaller or larger beanie.

For a 3 to 6 month size add another row of increases on row 6 following these instructions and adding 2 to 4 more rows for extra height.

Row 6 ch 1, *work 1 hdc into the next 11 hdc, work 2 hdc into the next hdc*
repeat from *to* to end, sl st to join (52 hdc)

Your baby beanie can be made in a single color or more, I made this one especially for the pattern instructions as the little x's stand out more so you can see the pattern stitch.

Hook size: 4.00mm US G/6

Yarn: 8 ply approx 50 gm’s US DK/Medium

US crochet terms used

Skill level: beginner +

Tension: medium

Time: approx 2 hours

Stitches used:

Sl st= slip stitch

Ch= chain

Hdc= half double crochet

Dc = double crochet

Fpdc= front post double crochet

The little X st is worked over 2 st’s, by skipping the first st, working into the very next st, then coming back and working into the first st you skipped.

IE: beginning of the round, ch 1, skip the first st, work 1 dc into the second st, work 1 dc into the 1^st skipped st (1 X made), *skip the next st, work 1 dc into the next st, work 1 dc into the skipped st* repeat from *to* to end.

The beanie begins at the top of the head and worked down to the ribbed edging

Please note! The beginning ch 1 of every rnd is not counted as a st.

BEGIN:

Chain 4, sl st to first ch to form a ring.Or you can use the magic ring.

Row 1 ch 1, work 12 hdc into ring, sl st to join in the 1st hdc

(you will join this way on every round)

(Increase in every st)

Row 2 ch 1, work 2 hdc into each hdc to end, sl st to join (24 hdc)

(Increase in every 3^rd st)
Row 3 ch 1, *work 1 hdc into the next 2 hdc, work 2 hdc into the next* repeat from *to* to end, sl st to join (32 hdc)

(Increase in every 4^th st)

Row 4 ch 1, *work 1 hdc into the next 3 hdc, work 2 hdc into the next* repeat from *to* to end, sl st to join (40 hdc)

(Increase in every 5^th st)

Row 5 ch 1, *work 1 hdc into the next 4 hdc, work 2 hdc into the next* repeat from *to* to end, sl st to join (48 hdc)

(Stop increases)

(for 3 to 6 month size use instructions given at the beginning of this pattern)

Row 6 ch 1, work 1 hdc in each hdc to end, sl st to join (48 hdc)

Row 7 repeat row 6

(Little X row using dc’s)

Row 8 ch 1, skip the first st, work 1 dc into the second st, work 1 dc into the 1^st skipped st (1 X made), *skip the next st, work 1 dc into the next st, work 1 dc into the skipped st* repeat from *to* to end, sl st to join, the join will be in the top of the 1^st dc of this round (48 dc)

Rows 9 and 10, repeat row 6 (48 hdc)

Row 11, repeat row 8 (48 dc)

Rows 12 and 13, repeat row 6 (48 hdc)

Row 14, repeat row 8 (48 dc)

Rows 15 and 16, repeat row 6 (48 hdc)

Please note you can make your hat longer than I did, just add more rows.

Begin hat ribbed edging, using dc

Row 17 ch 1, work 1 dc into each hdc of the round, sl st to join, the join will be in the top of the 1^st dc of this round (48 dc)

Row 18 ch 1, work 1 dc into first dc, work 1 fpdc around the next dc, *work 1 dc into the next dc, work 1 fpdc around the next dc* repeat from *to* to end, sl st to join, the join will be in the top of the 1^st dc of this round (48 dc)

Final row of hat, once again you make this longer.

Row 19 work 1 hdc into each dc to the end, (48 hdc), sl st to join and finish off leaving a long enough tail to sew in and hide your ends.

Long time between crochet post's.

Hope every one had a safe Christmas and new year!

I have been crocheting, just not blogging about it, probably too busy crocheting.

I made quite a few gifts this year.

My favorite gifts were a bear and a horse that I crocheted.

They were form the Heidi pattern range which can be purchased online.

I made the pony first and I wish I had put something sturdy in the pony's neck part as it does droop a little.

The pony was made with 32 shapes whilst the torso of the bear had 32 shapes alone which meant much more work, I did not follow the instructions to use several different sized hooks for the torso of the bear, so the body was a little out of shape, but I covered up the bear with an apron I created.

I also made beaded crochet ropes for the lovely ladies in my life, these take about 6 hours to make which includes tedious threading on of the hundreds of beads first.

If you want to make these, youtube has many tutorials available, just search for crochet beaded rope.

The 3 below were a request after one of my daughters friends saw hers, she wanted some for herself.

Right now I am making more of the snowflake baby blankets, they were a hit!

Love jobs, but I love to give/share!

There a lot's of baby's coming this year.

Linda's Snowflake Potholder/Granny Square. Free crochet pattern

The free pattern was intended for a pot holder, but why not make a throw/afghan with it? I did.

This is how I join my squares, in strips, then I join the strips together.

The end result is perfect for a baby throw,I made this for my soon to be born grand son.

You can find the free pattern here, as it is from a deleted web site, the way back machine has supplied the link, some browsers do not support the way back machine, so I suggest to use fire fox.

I used 8 ply yarn (dk) and the squares measured approx 6x6.
