Introduction:

The body of the sweater is made from top down, and is made in one piece, the sleeves are then added and made in the round, last of all the collar is added.

The edges of both sides are made as you make the body and are designed with button hole and button placements in mind.

There may be some lengthy explanations in some parts, but that ensures there is no need for guessing games.

Pattern Stitch: If you look close enough you can see the butterflies hidden within the pattern, I think they are quite shy as they seem to vanish, then reappear where they choose to.

The pattern is quite easy, with lots of repeats.

Hook size: 4mm, US G/6

Yarn: 8 ply approx 150 to 200 gm’s US DK/Medium.

I explained that I don't know how to read patterns? Well under the armholes I misinterpreted where you say to put 3 dc's in the 4 ch's space, and put 3dc in each of the dc's!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You can imagine how much larger it was than it was supposed to be, yet the pattern worked out lol

Making the sleeves: Get to know your sleeve prior to joining in the yarn and adding the correct stitch count that we need, please indentify the stitch placements by reading the instructions below, the stitch placements are underlined and in bold.

On row 7 of the yoke where we made our sleeve holes, we skipped 19 st’s. Looking at the arm holes, from the back of the garment find the 1^st skipped dc, now count to the 19^th skipped dc, next you will see the top loop of a dc that is worked into, the side bar of the dc, the chain space, next you will see the 3 dc’s that were made over the ch 4, identify the space on both sides of the 2^nd dc, the last chain space (after the 3^rd dc), the next side bar of the dc, the next top loop of a dc that was worked into, now we are back at the beginning of the 1^st dc of the 19 dc. This will give use 27 st’s to begin our sleeve.

Please note that both sleeves are worked the same and are worked in the round, for the right sleeve join in yarn from the back of the arm hole, for the left sleeve join in yarn from the front of the arm hole.

Introduction: This free crochet pattern looks intimidating, but don’t be dismayed, it’s just a trick with the yarn. Imagine 3 dc’s standing in a row, and then wrapping them 3 times around with hook and yarn, done! This wrapping technique then turns sideways all by its self, now why didn’t I think of that? Each wrap is separated with a simple V stitch, which gives a very uniformed and attractive design.

The entire pattern is achieved over only 2 rows, making it repetitive and easy to follow.

To fit: Newborn to 3 Months

Measurements approx: Head Circumference 13 to 14 inches, hat height 5.5 to 6 inches

Please note, by using a smaller or larger hook, you can make a smaller or larger beanie

Hook size: 3.5mm for newborn 4.00mm for 3 months+ US G/6

Yarn: 8 ply approx 50 gm’s US DK/Medium.

Row 10, ch 2, work 1 dc in same space as join, skip 1 st, work 1 dc in each of the next 3 st’s, work the wrap around the 3 dc’s just made, , work a V st into the ch 1 space of the V st, * skip 1 st, (please note the st you are skipping is not the st that makes the v, it’s the st after that one) work 1 dc in each of the next 3 st’s, work the wrap around the 3 dc’s just made, work a V st into the ch 1 space of the V st,* repeat from *to* to end, to join, sl st into the 1^st dc of this rnd (8 sets of wrap st, 8 sets of V st)

Row 11, ch 2, work 1 dc in same space as join, work 1 dc into each of the 4 st’s of the wrap group, work a V st into the ch 1 space of the V st, *work 1 dc into each of the 4 st’s of the wrap group, work a V st into the ch 1 space of the V st,* repeat from *to* to end, to join, sl st into the 1^st dc of this rnd (49 dc)

Repeat rows 10 and 11, 2 more times for newborn, 3 more times for 3 months old (or length desired)

(Begin simple ribbed edging)

Row 1, make a ch 2 only in the same space s join, work 1 hdc in next dc, work 1 fphdc  around next dc, *work 1 hdc in next dc, work 1 fphdc  around next dc,* repeat from *to* to end, to join, sl st into first hdc, (48 hdc)

Row 2, ch 1, work 1hdc in same space as join, work 1 hdc into each hdc to the end, sl st to join and finish off leaving a long enough tail to sew in and hide your ends.

My testers have said that they made their hat larger just by using larger hooks.

Robyns Bow Pattern

Start of by making a Slip Knot, then crochet 40 Chains.
Row 1~ Chain 2, skip 2 chains from your hook, then crochet Half Double Crochets all across into every chain.
Row 2 ~ Chain 2, half double crochet into every stitch across.
Row 3 ~ Change color. Chain 2, half double crochet into every stitch across.
Row 4-5 ~ Chain 2, half double crochet into every stitch across.
When you've completed all the rows, connect the two ends of the bow band together to create a circle and Slip Stitch them together.
Once you've slip stitched the ends together, flip the slip stitched part to the inside and fasten your yarn off. You don't want to trim your yarn less than 55"/140cm because you need a long enough tail to wrap around your bow.
Start of by slowly yet tightly wrapping the yarn around the center of the bow. You need to wrap it around the bow at least 15 times. When you've finished wrapping, knot it to the back of the bow.

You can use any combination of colors. This bow is for a 9 month old hat.
